The bathroom shelf problem: how to store perfume so it lasts

A well-kept bottle of perfume can stay true for years. A badly kept one can turn flat or sour in months.

Avoid the bathroom

Steam and temperature swings are the biggest enemies. A drawer or wardrobe in a cool bedroom is far better than a bathroom shelf.

Keep it out of sunlight

Light breaks down the delicate top notes first. Keep your bottle in its box, or somewhere out of direct sun.

Keep the cap on

Air slowly changes a fragrance. Cap the bottle after each use, and store atomisers upright.
